RIP Turtle

I had to run to the store this morning before Jason went to work. I got Olivia in the car and began to back out. As I did, I heard a "POP" so I jumped out, looked behind me -- nothing, looked under me and I thought I saw one of the kids toys -- so I continued on out.

When I was out of the driveway, I saw it was a turtle. Poor turtle. It was dead. I ran in and told Jason, who now just shakes his head at me when it comes to the car.

Not a good thing to happen after watching Charlotte's Web yesterday.........

RIP Turtle

Minivan Mama

Yeah - I took down some mailboxes several weeks ago coming down Tulip Grove with my minivan. So I was car-less for about a week and a half. I got the mama mobile back Tuesday and am excited! It's perfect!

Do I really want to move?

Gosh, it hit me this evening, that we will be leaving Brookside Woods soon. And surprisingly, I got really sad.

Sad because I love it here. Sad because Tyler rode his bike for the first time here. First sleepovers with the neighborhood kids. First house that both girls have ever lived in.

I also love my neighborhood. I love that every time Smokin' Guy comes outside, he yells "Hello" to me. I love that I knocked on his door one day and asked him to run up to the school for Tyler AND HE DID. I love that his wife walked over to our house when she found out we were selling and said she was sad to see us go. I love that even tho' Brent like a drink, he's the type of guy you'd want in your neighborhood even if he does rev up the 4-wheelers at all hours of the day/night. I love big Al and his old school music he blasts while cleaning his truck during the day. I love putting the big orange cones in the street and knowing that everyone knows that means there are at least 12 kids playing in the culd-a-sac. I love knowing that we can go away for a week and know that everyone is watching out. I love the relationships I've made with the other moms and knowing I can count on them to help me if I need to by just picking up the phone. I love to laugh at the story about Bob with the nice legs. I love how EVERYONE talks and is friendly.

I think about the good old days. The days that John and Shelley lived here. Patty and Darrin were our neighbors one side and the idiot and his sweet wife the other. Tiffany and Jordan moved in and life was good (Jordan ended up being Tyler's first best friend). I loved getting together with everyone for cookouts and cocktails. Friends, family - it's what we were. But life changes, people change, families grow and jobs transfer. We too have grown. Three kids in the house just doesn't do it anymore.

But I remember. And I'll miss Brookside Woods. Really, the best neighbors around.

House Update

We had two offers in two days. Here is the breakdown:

1st couple low-balled us. All came down to their shady financing situation. It was something we just didn't feel comfortable with.

2nd couple came to an agreement with us much faster and easier than the first. They are pre-approved and our closing costs will be much cheaper cause they are using a suggested lender. BUT they have a condo to sell.

So we have accepted their offer contingent on them selling their condo. So we will still show our house, but hope their condo sells fast!!!

Are you kidding me? TWO OFFERS? Not one, but two? Dos?

Crazy. More info to follow. I'll post once we have a signed contract!!!!

Saturday morning we are getting up early and heading to the Farmers Market. I think Jen wants to get some flowers or something, I am more interested in bugs (long story, don't ask). There's a neat park next to it, so im sure we will stroll through there.

The main event happens at around noon, its the RedBull FluTag, which i think in loose translation means, idiots trying to create something that flies, but end up crashing into the water.

This June 23, teams of daring individuals will take to the skies above Riverfront Park at Red Bull Flugtag Nashville. Flugtag, which means "flying day" in German, challenges the everyday creative genius to build a human-powered flying machine with four close friends, family members, neighbors or co-workers. Teams will pilot their crafts off the end of a 30-foot ramp in hopes of achieving flight or at least entertaining the crowd - hey, there's always the People's Choice Award!

At any rate, the kids will get a kick out of it and im sure ill get a few good pictures.

Few fun trips coming up

Towards the end of July. our family and Jens parents take off to Gatlenburg, TN for a 4 day mini vacation in the mountains. We got a small cabin not to far out of town. The kids are looking forward to visiting the water parks. Jen is looking forward to doing a little shopping and miniature golf. We are also going to hit up the aquarium and maybe a ride through the smokey mountains. I got a new lens for fathers day so I'm hoping to take a few good pictures.

For Thanksgiving this year we are heading to Orlando Florida. We already purchased the tickets to universal studios for the week. I'm not looking forward to the drive, but I'm sure once we are there things will be fine.

On a safari

Bulldog showed up at the house at 8 am this morning, outfitted in his LL Bean safari vest ready to roll. We headed to Radnor Lake and hiked 4 miles a along the ridge trail. Along the way we saw some deer and wildlife. At 72 years old, he has the energy of a teenager.

You have new Picture Mail!

Update on the House, Etc.

Still showing -- no offers. Sucks big fat donkey balls. Had two showings today and one more tomorrow. Don't even get me going on the ass that called today at 2:20 and wanted to show it at 2:30. I told them I could be out by three (had a neighbor kid visiting with Tyler and they were all still in the pj's). Guess what time he came?? 2:35. Lovely.

My Aunt came into town for a few days this week. Had a nice time. Tyler begged to go down to Miami with her for a few weeks, but if I can't go, nobody can go. Sounds fair to me.

Abbe Mae is recovering from her accident. Her little nose and mouth are still pink, so I'm hoping it doesn't scar up.

These kids have been hell on wheels lately. Last night they stayed up until midnight. I was pretty pissed. They all cried tonight when I put them in bed (for the second time) at 9:30. Tomorrow it will be 8:30 cause this ain't finna fly in my house.

Got a call from the big hospital downtown today to see if I would consider a job there. Apparently Jason mentioned a little something to the VP over at the division office about me spending too much money while I'm at home. WTF is that about?
