PEOPLE'S WORST TO BEST DRESSED

On a whim, I entered the People's Worst to Best Dressed contest online. Imagine my surprise when a NY number pops up on my caller ID and the person on the other end tells me I need to send in a video of myself. She said they originally selected about 100 people and would be in touch. I was informed I was selected to be in the top 10!! I almost died! I need VOTES!!!

Hi Jennifer,

Now that you are a finalist in our "Worst to Best Dressed" contest, I
want to give you a little more information regarding the voting.

The contest officially starts on the People.com website, this Friday,
July 20th, an noon. The voting will continue through August 10th at
noon. Please be aware that this is an elimination contest and is voter
driven. The first round of voting will officially begin this Friday
(at noon) and will continue for approximately two days. At that point,
one contestant will be eliminated and nine will remain. Voting will
then continue for another two days and a second contestant will be
eliminated. There will be a countdown clock between rounds, providing
the time left to vote before the next contestant is eliminated. This
pattern will repeat until there is one woman left who has made it
through each elimination round and will be named the winner of the
"Worst to Best Dressed" contest.

So please be sure to tell your friends, family, and colleagues to log
on to People.com and vote for you not only on July 20th, but every
couple of days through August 10th. You need to collect votes as the
"Worst Dressed" at every stage to ensure you are not eliminated.

We are excited to have you as a finalist and look forward to the
voting!

Vacation Bible School is OVER

This was my first year volunteering at VBS. The girls went to the nursery, Tyler to his class and I went on to help teach the 5th and 6th graders. It was fun after the kids woke up. I guess being 11 and 12 is tough and most probably didn't want to be there. I would guess most had to be there. By Thursday, the rambunctious little boys had been on my last nerve. I was tired of the other teachers giving me the evil eye cause my kids were out of control. I was tired of telling them to stop. I was just tired. I pulled all the boys aside and told them that if they didn't chill out, we'd finish up the remainder of days in our room writing bible versus and talking about them with Father Steve. Needless to say, the DID NOT step out of line for the remainder of the time.

On Friday when we did our little show, it was actually quite rewarding. If asked to do again, I may. It depends. The pain may be like childbirth, I may forget it by next year!

Homesick

Every once in a while, I'll get really homesick. I start thinking about being in Chicago and miss everything about it. I start thinking that I'd love to move back home. Last night I was looking at townhouses/condos in the city or a house in the suburbs that could accommodate my large family and found some in my price range. I went to sleep last night dreaming of moving home or some how living in both places. I begin to convince myself that the winters are not bad, that I could actually enjoy the them. I remember how quiet it is outside after it snows and and how life does indeed go on as normal, even if there is a foot of snow in a day. I think about all the food, festivals, culture, arts, places to visit and shops and I really feel like I'm missing out on something. Just being able to take the kids to a Cubs game for an afternoon treat. Or just having friends and family so close to come celebrate birthdays and holidays. I miss my friends and family. I miss having every thing around.
