Forgive me......

I may be drunk

Today we went to Nicole's 7th birthday party. It was great to see her as well as Craig and Kathy. Nicole and Tyler have been friends since we moved to TN. They live in Franklin, but we have lost touch with them since the move and all the chaos that surrounded that. So it's been about a year since we've seen her. She is so grown and so pretty. She has lost all her small teeth and now has a mouth full of large teeth on a tiny little head. Her hair is bright blonde and eyes deep blue - just as sweet and polite as can be. The kids had a fantastic time at her house swimming and partying. They were bummed we had to leave and wanted to know when we'd see her again. Sad thing is, I don't know when we'll see her again. The drive is so far and life is so busy. But they've been friends forever.

I rushed home (42.2 miles each way at 4.00/gallon) and jumped in the shower. My parents watched the kids while Jason and I went out to dinner with Scott and Cory. I got home at 4:20 and we had to be there at 5:00 pm! The restaurant was hot because the a/c was out. We talked about pools, kids, vasectomies, Jason's man parts, prison, etc, so it was great fun. I took them all to some small dive bar after dinner and while I downed two drinks, Cory had one and the men had water. I don't get out often, so I like a good drink here and there.

At dinner Cory told me she reads the blog. Although I was thrilled someone actually pays attention to it, I thought -- crap -- what have I said!? And about who? But I think I'm a pretty open book through and through and am glad to have people read my random thoughts. Plus, if I were to embarrass Jason in front of his colleagues, I'm sure it would be in person....:) Oh and Scott wears CROCS, so I don't have anything to worry about.

All in all it was a busy day. Now the kids just need to go to sleep cause I'm tired. Church early tomorrow and hopefully a lazy day to catch up on laundry and recuperate.

Sunburned Butts

We had a fantastic day today. It was one of those days that I think I would like to model all days after. Just perfect.

Woke up around 9 am, had some breakfast. Kids got their bathing suits on while I packed the cooler with fruit, sandwiches and drinks. Loaded the car and were out of the house by 10 am and off to Nashville Shores.

Tyler was thrilled from the first mention of Nashville Shores. Abbe Mae and Olivia were just excited because of Tyler's reaction and because they had their bathing suits on in public. I wish I had taken pictures of the girls expressions when we got there. It was priceless. We swam, played, filled buckets full of water while Tyler went down water slide after water slide. He was a bit sad that he could not ride the new Music City Racer because although he was tall enough, he wasn't heavy enough. Either way, he still had fun.

After a few hours of water play, we decided it was time to eat. Nashville Shores has a great picnic area so we ate our lunch there. The activity must of made the kids hungry because they ate and ate and ate! After lunch we headed over to the outside rides and slides section of the park. The kids rode several "carnival" type rides and laughed and smiled the whole time. I had to peal them away from the rides to get them home. On the way home, we stopped for a little vanilla ice cream to top off the day.

After we got home and cleaned up, we rushed off to Abbe Mae's pre-k roundup. Abbe Mae met her teacher (who looks to be a kid herself!) and was tested for speech, development and hearing. She played a game and won herself a brand new backpack for school in August.

The kids were great! So well behaved, but so enthralled by the happenings. And I have to say, after a day like today I am thrilled to be out of the baby stage. I have a house full of kids! Kids that can play, run, swim and I don't have to worry about diapers and bottles. We can all get out and enjoy the summer this year!

But one thing I missed. When putting sunscreen on the girls, I didn't factor in that their bathing suits tend to ride up their backside. Both have sunburned butts.

Allergy Doctor

I got a cortisone shot today for my allergies. Right in the buttock.
More nasal spray.
More pills.
And a new one, some eye drops.

But the shot is making me feel better.

I go back in a few weeks for a follow up. Doctor wants to do more testing to see what's going on. Not sure if I'm down with that.

i shot myself

Shot a 3 inch framing nail with my air nailer through my middle finger's finger nail, and out the side of the finger. i put the gun down, looked at my finger and grabbed the nail and wiggled it out. I grabbed a towel and wrapped my finger up and walked in the house and told jennifer we may have a problem. I rinsed the finger under cold water for a few minutes, saw the exit hole... grabbed a few hello kitty band aids and went back out. I wish i wouldnt have yanked the nail out so fast so i could have gotten a picture. It was a full inch and half out the side of my finger. Some would compare this type of injury to a gun shot wound, it just shows you how manly I am.

Fire Alarm

Ever gone from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds? Do you think humans have animalistic instincts to protect their young? Or have you heard of the adrenaline mother's have if their children are in danger? The kind where they can lift a car off if the need be? It happened to me.

Let me set the scene. Sleep over at our house. Kriston (boy, 7) and Tisha (girl, 4) are brother/sister and spent the night last night. Our first ever sleepover. Of course, they were so excited, and I exhausted, and it was a late night. Finally, a little after 11 pm, the last of the girls feel asleep. Abbe and Tisha were up telling stories and singing, and although it was THE SWEETEST thing to listen too, mama bear was tired. I fell asleep the minute my head hit the pillow.

At 3:58 am, our fire alarm goes off. After one beep, Jason and I spring out of bed and rush for the kids. I felt my heart beat. I felt time stand still. Without speaking, I go for the girls, Jason the boys upstairs. Olivia is sitting up in her bed crying and I grab her. Get to Abbe and Tisha and Tisha is sitting up in the bed rubbing her eyes as the alarm blasts. Abbe, my darling child, is still sleeping soundly. I grab them all. I felt strong. I could've kicked through the brick wall if I had too.

Just as I come out of the room, the alarm stops blaring. Jason screams he can't find a fire. I lay the girls down in the bed and start checking doors for heat and smoke. Nothing. The boys upstairs are now wide awake, sitting and watching TV, while downstairs, the only one awake is Olivia. No smoke or fire anywhere.

Just then, the alarm starts blaring again. I run to comfort the girls, while Jason continues to look through the house for the fire. 60 seconds later, it stops. This happens three of four times as we continue to search for SOMETHING that is triggering it. Jason is positive there is a short somewhere. He turns the alarm system off at the breaker box as we continue to look. Nothing. Nothing. NOTHING.

As Jason and Olivia decide to go back to sleep, my mind is racing with things that could of happened. Things that may happen. Needless to say, I couldn't sleep.

We have no clue what it was. Jason said that our little girl visitor, Tisha, the firecracker she is, was probably smoking Marlboro's. I realllllly don't think that is the case. We have to find an electrician today, the holiday weekend, to come out here and look at it. I'm just so glad every thing is okay.

** Shed Update **

approx 9:30 am central time, put a 3" framing nail through my left middle finger with the air nailer, through the finger nail, out the side. I pulled it out, two hello kitty band aids, went back to work.

Abbe Mae

1. Yesterday Abbe was on the phone with Grammy. Olivia was running around naked, per usual. Abbe tells Grammy, "Grammy, Olivia's bare-assin' the new couch!"

2. We were outside today riding bikes. Abbe falls and yells, "Mom! I cracked my nuts!!"

3. "Mommy, I always listen to you and daddy cause I need to teach Olivia how to be perfect, LIKE ME."

Shed Time

Big project happening at the homestead. Jason is on a building spree. Here are the materials for his shed.

Hair Cuts

The princesses got haircuts last night after their baths. Abbe got about four inches cut off and I finally was able to even it out a bit from her ponytail incident. I don't know where Olivia came from with her hair. Must be Jason's side of the family. I cut about an inch off of her hair.

They both wanted it cut like Mrs. Jessica's new cut.

Do you think my tractor's sexxxy?

54" blade. Cup holder. And the man of my dreams driving it.

Yes, I've been drinking.

I'm so proud of Olivia, Melissa's daughter. Went to her graduation on Sunday and she looked amazing. Graduated with honors and is preparing to go to UT Chattanooga in the fall. She's growing up!!

It's always fun going anywhere with Melissa. She's the funniest person I know. We laugh at everything. I mean EVERYTHING. Then we have our follow-up phone calls to laugh some more.

If you've talked to me in the last two months, the first thing that probably came out of my mouth is how sick I am. I'm sick. I'm tired of being sick. These allergies are killing me.

Reflecting back in the early 80's. I'd go to the allergist on Washington Street every Saturday morning for my shots. I'd get six a week, three in each arm. I did this for years and years. I remember being Tyler'a age and going up to the doctor by myself. There were times my mom would wait in the car, I'd ride my bike up there or my aunt would take me up there (but she made me nervous cause she's a bit squeamish). I'd put my arms out and get the shots and not even flinch. I try to imagine Tyler doing something like that and it would be impossible. But for me it was just a part of life. And it must of worked, I must of built some sort of immunity up to certain things cause for years, my allergies were there, but weren't horrible.

Now they are back with avenges. I can't breath. I can't swallow. I can't open my eyes in the morning. And I can't breathe through my nose. I'm beyond, let me repeat BEYOND miserable. I've been like this for a few months now. I've been to the doctor and am taking some drugs and nose spray. Next week I have an appointment with the allergist, that is, if I make it that long.

The Recital

It was a blast!!! I was up in my seat acting like a fool! Hooting and carrying on when my kids when on stage. I was so proud. They were really good! And there had to be at least 800 people in the audience and neither of them were nervous.

Nana and Grandpa got in late last night so they were able to attend. Olivia did okay, wasn't too happy that she couldn't get on stage and dance. Cried some cause she wanted her tu-tu on as well.

Here are some pictures that we took. We were not allowed to get up and take close ups, so we had to do it from our seats. Once I get the video and other pictures I ordered, I'll be sure to share.

Busy days and lazy bones

Jason and I had a date last night. It was fantastic! We went to Outback, both had a margarita to celebrate Mother's Day, ate a quiet, healthy meal and didn't have to listen to the fighting and crying that usually accompanies us. Tyler went with his buddy Kriston and the girls went to Elijah's house. After dinner, we walked Home Depot and Lowes. It was grand.

The kids have been playing outside most days. That and the late night at Elijah's house must have worn on Abbe Mae. It's 9:59 am and she hasn't rolled out of bed yet......

Da Ganstas Went To Prom

Alex and Bobby are my cousins from Florida. My aunt just sent me pictures of them going to prom. Bobby must just be a fill in date cause I know he is too much of a "ho" to be tied down to one girl. He's the bald one in all black. Alex is in tall bald one in the black suit with the white tie. He's been dating his girlfriend (in the white dress) all through HS. I guess after prom he's moving on. He's maturing and going to community college and just grown away from her. Kind of sad. I hope she doesn't read my blog.....anyhow - ENJOY!

I'm officially white trash

Y'all, I got flagged at Walmart for making too many returns without receipts. Can you believe it? I went today to return some sheers that I bought for Abbe's room (I bought two only needed one). Of course I didn't have my receipt, I'm lucky to have all of my kids in tow. The lady behind the register kindly told me, "Mrs. Burden, this is the last return you can make this year without a receipt. You've been *flagged* for too many returns without receipts. The next return will have to get approval." WTF? Are you kidding me? So I said, "Well how many returns have I made??" and she said, "This is your third this year, without a receipt." Okay. She's right. I returned a pair of shoes I bought Abbe cause they were too big. I got the right size then returned the same pair cause Abbe hated them....that's two in one shot. Does that count? I said, "Fine. Just give me my $4.96 store credit and let me go on my way. And for the record, TARGET can look up your purchases with your debit card. Guess I'll be shopping there from now on."
