1st Communion

Once again, I can't sleep! Ugh!

But to my surprise, I finally received our 1st Communion class picture today. Granted, it's from March 29, but I guess better late than never.

Love Nest

I almost had Jason talked into getting a new king-size bed this weekend. At least in my mind I did. He entertained the idea for me briefly before shooting me down. But we did decide to buy a new comforter set for our small queen. I say small maybe cause there are usually five people trying to lay in it. But while we were shopping, I also picked up some 500-thread count sheets (I embroidered the pillowcases so we won't fight over pillows) and hooked up some bath towels while I was at it. I finally have my curtains up in the room too. I'll have to get some pictures of the love nest tomorrow.

Here's my work:

Carving Jack-O-Lanterns

What a great afternoon we had!! Tish and Kriston rode the bus home with T-man to come over and carve some pumpkins. They were really into it. I'm surprised how excited and focused they all were. Especially little Liv! They worked on those pumpkins for a good two hours straight! Lots of fun for all.

Hello Fall!

Isn't this the best time of the year? The trees are beautiful. The air is crisp. I love fall!! I love the need to wear a jacket or to have a fire. I love the crunching sound dried up leaves make when walking through them. You never know how to dress in this type of weather cause mornings are so cold and afternoons are almost hot. I can finally toss around the idea of breaking out the crock pot.

Goodbye hot summer days!!

Check out some fall pictures on The Camera Lens Blog.

Halloween Party

What a great Halloween party we went to this evening. Hayrides, hot coco, apple bobbing, scavenger hunt, costumes....so much fun! Here are a few pictures before and after the fun. The girls were Wildcat Cheerleaders and Tyler was some scary mask/cape/devil thing.

High School Muscial 3

We went and saw HSM3 yesterday afternoon as the girls have been bugging me for weeks. I picked Tyler up at the bus stop and we drove off for the 3:30 movie. We hit the mini mart up the street for candy treats to sneak in. We arrived at the theater around 2:40 to find out that they added more shows so we walked right into the 2:50 show with plenty of seats!

It was a good movie, although I think HSM2 was the best. Our favorite, Sharpay, wasn't as prominent in this show. It was more about Troy and Gabriella growing apart (or together at the end) and Disney introducing the "younger cast members" as it seems like they will either spin-off or continue in some way (although I think 3 movies would be PLENTY). I will say that Sharpay's hair extensions looked Britney-like-hideous and Troy has obviously been working out a bit. And what's with these 'shaggy' hairstyles young men are sporting these days? I just want to give them all haircuts!

When we walked out of the theater, the line to get in was around the corner and out the door. All the kids with their HSM shirts on waiting to get in and see the movie. I'm glad we got there before the rush!

Disney is making a killing on this crap.

Where have I been?

We seemed to hit a time where we are constantly on the go. Always something, right? The hours and days seem to be flying by as I looked at the calendar and realized 2008 is almost over and the holidays are quickly approach. Damn.

We have a busy weekend planned. This afternoon, we may try to catch the HSM3 matinee. If it's crowded and crazy, I'll keep on driving. But I must admit, I'm a bit excited to see it myself. After watching High School Musical 1 & 2 all this time, I want to see what happens. Tomorrow morning, we have a Boy Scout bike ride at our house. It shouldn't last very long. But our little neighbor, Alivia, is coming to spend the day with us. The girls - LOVE her. Then tomorrow evening, one of our friends is throwing a kids Halloween party so we'll go to that. Sunday is church and off to the corn maze with The Sayer kids. I somehow have to squeeze pumpkin carving in here somewhere. Maybe tomorrow afternoon? Who knows.

We've had a rough return to school this week with Abbe Mae. I think the fall break is way too long (2 weeks) and she just couldn't get in the groove of things. Today was the first day she didn't cry when I dropped her off, but as I walked away I could feel her hard stare. Poor baby. But I will say Pre-K is doing amazing things for the girl. A friend even mentioned to me she was impressed with Ab-ster's knowledge. It made my day.

Tyler's first 3rd grade report card came this week. I'm still not sure we will commit to guitar lessons. Although he did great (all A's and a few B's) his behavior and homework areas need lots of improvement. He forgot his home SEVEN times this 9 week grading period. I told him if he would've remembered it, he could have gotten ALL A's! Forgetting home is just not acceptable. So we need to step it up. 3rd grade is a challenge cause the teacher is not holding is hand anymore and it's a whole lot of independence. I'm sick to my stomach thinking of that.

Little Liv is doing well too. Smart as can be and loving school. She goes two days a week and is picking up so much. Her little classmate and our neighbor came down this morning to play for a few hours. I'm sad to see her grow so fast. :( Really am. She carries around a plastic cell phone and pretends her boyfriend is calling her. Great.

My buddy Celly is coming down from Chicago next weekend. I'm thrilled!! Trick-o-Treating and lots of drinking.....lol. Should be a fun time.

Neglecting the Blog

Sorry. So sorry. I've been in a crappy place this last week but at least thought I would update. It's a bit all over the place cause that's how I'm feeling these days.

My closest aunt is having some trouble with her son, my cousin. He's a good kid, he really is, but is in a bad place right now. It's literally tearing me apart thinking of the things that are going on with them. I was two seconds away this weekend from hopping in my car and taking a trip to FTL. Literally. I have never felt so far away from someone that I love in my life. I wanted to be there and felt I needed to be there but couldn't. I think that is why I haven't been around much cause I've been focused on them.

Then tomorrow, I have to go for another mammogram. I guess I'm on a six month rotation now. This was after I had a long talk with my general physician about how "at my age I should consider some life changes". Yeah, right. He suggested a 30-day journal trial of no sweets, no red meat, and lots of exercise. If it were only that easy? I wanted to laugh in his face to be honest. My best friend right now is the pack of double-stuff Oreos in the cookie jar. Then after my mammogram tomorrow, we have an appointment for flu shots for the kids. NOW THAT'S FUN. And on Friday, I get to go to my gyno again for a followup. See what I mean about being in a crappy place?

The kids have been on fall break for almost two weeks. Fun, fun! Actually, we did get to meet up with our old neighbors yesterday at Chic-Fila. It was great to see Josh and Melissa. Tyler has been asking about Josh for months. He says on a weekly basis, "I miss my old friends, my old school, my old neighborhood." Tyler got to go back to their house for a while to hang out and had a great time.

My new washer is still broke. Still waiting on the part. Still haven't heard from The Geek Squad on a estimation of when it will be in.

Jason is still carrying around his puppy like it's the first born. She seems to be doing well and is growing so fast. I can see the change in her. Problem is, big dog = big turds, and that's what I don't like.

Friday we leave for a weekend trip to Alabama. Yes, Alabama. I guess it's only two hours from here (not sure if that's a plus or a minus) but we are going for a relaxing weekend in a cabin at Joe Wheeler State Park.

So that's it in a nutshell. If you read it all, thanks. Hopefully this weekend away will put a little pep-in-my-step.

Warm Weather

It's October and we are still mid-80's. Where's the cool fall weather? I'm ready to turn off the a/c.

When Daddy's Away....

The kids here have year-round school. Or at least that's what they call it. Today kicked off the first day of a full two-week fall break. Jason is out of town so it's just me and the crew. We went and picked up the Sayer kids and all headed up to Chuck-E-Cheese. Everyone had a great time and they were all very good. Since we had such a good time and the weather was beautiful out (sunny and 85), I brought the Sayer kids over to my house for a while to play with my kids. They stayed until 7 pm!! They all had a blast and the only misbehavior came from my little Abbe Mae. She gets sassy sometimes.

After they left, we picked up the house, got baths, had a snack and all climbed into my bed. Yes, all three of them were in my bed. Since Jason is gone, they all want to sleep in my tiny, queen size bed (which has fresh sheets). If you have kids, you know they are usually all over the place when they sleep. I'll probably end up on the couch.

Pepper

The puppy's official name is Pepper. I'm surprised my husband hasn't sent out birth announcements because he's THAT excited. He came home with a printed little tag with Pepper's personal information on it for her to wear on her little green diamond collar.

I guess a dog is a lot easier to take care of than another child. Y'all should know my husband wanted to go for #4, but thankfully, I was able to talk him out of it (with the help of my overworked OBGYN).

And surprisingly, Jason has been getting up in the middle of the night to take her out to potty. I can probably count on one hand how many times he got up with the kids. I always had baby duty, but never really minded.

But he's all about this puppy.

Exhaustion

Why am I so tired all the time? I have no energy these days. It's been a few weeks now that I've felt drained. On a recent Sunday, I lounged on the couch most of the afternoon cause I was just tired. That is not like me at all. As you can imagine, with three kids, I'm on the go all the time. I'm either chasing a small child around, getting them crafts to do, cleaning or doing laundry. That is my day, all day, EVERY DAY. Besides this particular Sunday, I can't remember ever lounging like this.

Since about that time, I've had no energy. None. I'm running on fumes. I'm thinking naps at noon (but that NEVER happens). Today I couldn't keep my eyes open around 2ish. I couldn't even play with the kids and the puppy, I just sat in my chair. I wake up in the morning and think....only 14 more hours and I can go back to sleep.

What is it? The crappy foods I eat? I'm still sleeping the same, not doing anything different. I have a doctor's appointment on the 17th so I'll ask for some blood tests then. I swear I'm full of cancer and will die at a young age and have to leave my beautiful babies. Ugh. Maybe I need vitamins? Or God forbid, exercise. I have packed on the pounds lately.
