Every year I say the same thing, we will get less and do less. And every year we do the opposite of what I say.
We did have a fantastic Christmas at home, just the way I like it. Olivia and I have been under the weather all week, but besides that, it was a grand time. Christmas Eve we all got dressed up and went to Church. This is the first year Abbe Mae participated in the festivities by singing in the Church choir. She really like it and did a good job. This is also the first year Tyler didn't do any extra and just attended Mass. I must admit, Church is one of my most favorite things about Christmas. After Church, we went by Olive Garden and then on to my parent's house for dinner. We came home and each got to open on gift - which is the standard new pair of jammies.
The kids went to bed pretty easily, well except for Tyler who tried to peak downstairs for hours. Santa came and dropped a bunch of toys. One funny side note is Abbe Mae did tell me she was a bit nervous about not getting presents cause she "may have been naughty." She should've been nervous.
Christmas morning Olivia climbed into bed with us, per usual. Funny thing is she walked right past the tree and the loot and didn't even notice. I toyed with the idea of trying to get her back to sleep cause it was only 7:30 am, but instead I whispered, "Livi, did Santa come??" and in 30 seconds flat the entire house was wide awake. Olivia was SO excited.
All the hard work that went into putting Christmas together was worth it to feel that excitment and joy from my kids.
Merry Christmas!
